You are not Alone

I’m praying for each of you this morning. I continue to be blown away by God’s faithfulness and goodness. In the midst of the battles that we endure, and the path that we walk; He is always on our side, and always fighting for us – even and especially when we aren’t always aware of it.

This world has a way of making you feel alone. Our hurt, our wounds, and our brokenness isolate us. They make us feel like we are powerless. They make us feel like we are weak. They make us feel hopeless, and like giving up. What’s the point in fighting the good fight? What’s the point in being kind, showing compassion, or doing the right thing when nothing seems to change…when the pain only gets greater, and the darkness only seems to grow. And it sometimes seems like the more we fight, or the more obstacles we try to overcome, the more obstacles keep getting put in our way.

Everyone feels this. Even Jesus felt this way. There were times in Jesus’ life when he felt overwhelmed by the hurt, ignorance, hard hearts, and brokenness all around Him. He was moved to tears, moved to anger, and moved to crying out in frustration on several occasions. I think we can all relate to that.

This is why His words to His disciples (and to us) in John chapter 14 are so important and meaningful. Jesus speaks to us right where we are – in the midst of the struggle. Knowing that the path He calls all of us to walk is one where the Enemy will actively try to discourage us, to lie to us, and to make us feel isolated and alone; Jesus says. “I’m not leaving you alone. I won’t abandon you as orphans. I’m giving you the gift of a helper…the Holy Spirit”.

This is a TRUTH that is often difficult to understand and more difficult to embrace; but it is one that is vital for us to cling to.

The Enemy desires for us to feel hopeless, to despair, to believe that we are lost and alone; but it is quite simply not true…it is a LIE! The truth is that God sees you. His Spirit is inside of you, all round you, and always working. We aren’t always aware of it because we’re sinful and broken, and we get caught in the traps that the Enemy sets for us; but that doesn’t change the fact that we are NOT alone!

I’m praying for all of you today. I’m praying that the abiding and powerful Spirit of God would be so powerful inside of you and around that it would be undeniable. I’m praying that today, all of us would take a minute to look for God working in our lives. Whether that’s intentionally taking 5 minutes to write down all of the blessings that are in your life right now (I promise there are more than you think), listening to some Christian music in the background while we are driving or working, or instead of scrolling social media, maybe you should open your Bible app and spend 5 minutes reading God’s truth revealed in His Word.

All of those things can open our eyes to the Truth – we are loved by our Father, we are never alone, and God is fighting our battles as we follow the path that He has called us to walk. Love you all!
