What an incredible opportunity we have in front of us this weekend!! In the stories of our lives, all of us have moments of seemingly ordinary or insignificant consequence that unbeknownst to us will, in time, prove to be impactful, important, and influential in ways that none of us could imagine at the time. In fact, sometimes these seemingly ordinary moments can impact generations of our family, or people that we can’t even begin to comprehend right now.

I know that’s a big idea that we don’t often think about; but we should! For everyone of us, there is a moment where someone first told you about Jesus. where you first took a chance to come to church, say a prayer, open your heart to His grace, or the first time you experienced the transformational power of His love. At the moment, it might not have seemed like that big of a deal; but when you look back, you can see how it was a turning point in your life.

Here’s the thing…even though we might not be able to know or recognize those moments at the time they are happening, God not only knows them when they happen, but He orchestrates them and sets them up to happen! How cool is that? Even cooler is that WE get to play a part in those moments for the families, friends, and people in our community!

This weekend, we have the incredible privilege to host our community neighbors at our building for a celebration of the Fall Season with games, costumes, candy, and fun. And while there will be lots of all of those things – make no mistake, the real reason we are hosting our friends and neighbors is to show them the love of Jesus that is very real, and that can change their lives forever. There will be men, women, children, and families who will come to our building who have not been in a church building for years; who have avoided anything having to do with God or Jesus for years; and who God dearly loves, gave His life for, and desires for them to know Him in a life-giving relationship!

So, our job is simple. We have to show up. Be present. Take a risk, do something that might make you uncomfortable, or something that you’ve been too afraid to do before. There are MANY ways that we need your help: like and share the event on social media, share it with the other communities you are connected with, personally invite the people that God has put into your life, decorate a trunk, make some chili, or simply show up with an open heart, a cheerful spirit, and a willingness to let God use you.

There’s a possibility of rain this weekend…of course. But we’re not going to let the Enemy throw us off what God has called us to. So, stay tuned for a plan B if we need to implement one, and get excited for one of the best weekends of the year!!
