Speaking for Jesus
I know it might seem like a small thing – being kind, showing love, or giving of yourself; but DO NOT underestimate what God can do with a smile, a kind word, a hug, an encouraging text message, or an act of generosity!
One of the most transformative passages of Scripture in my life has been 1 John chapter 4. This passage has anchored me through some of the darkest seasons of my life, has constantly inspired me, and has pointed me towards a truth that we too often forget or take for granted.
John reminds us that “no one has ever SEEN God…but when we love one another, God’s love is made complete (fulfilled, embodied, made flesh, made real)”!
It’s a relatively simple idea, but the implications are mind blowing…IF you take the time to let it sink in, and then if you’re bold enough to embrace it.
All of us have within us the capacity to show love to each other. All of us have within us the ability to be kind, to speak truth and life, to encourage and not tear down, to be present, and to serve others boldly. And the truth is…we may NEVER be closer to speaking for Jesus, embodying the abiding presence of God, or changing someone’s life than when we are doing those things!
So, I’m thankful this morning and every morning for all the ways that God’s presence, love, and grace have been made real in my life through all of you. And I’m challenging ALL OF US…EVERYONE OF US…to lean into this as our calling from our Lord and Creator.
Go out today and love someone…show them God in the flesh! Love you all!!
